60th Independece Day Celebration

The Zambian community in Ghana came together in a grand celebration of Zambia’s 60th Independence Day on October 26th, 2024. The event was held at the residence of the Zambia High Commissioner to Ghana, providing a welcoming space for Zambians from different parts of the country to unite and honor this historic milestone.

Distinguished guests included the South African, Zimbabwean, and Tanzanian High Commissioners to Ghana. Their presence emphasized the spirit of African solidarity and unity.

The celebration commenced with an opening prayer, setting a solemn and reflective tone for the occasion. This was followed by an address from the Vice High Commissioner, who welcomed attendees and highlighted the significance of Zambia’s independence journey. The High Commissioner then delivered a powerful speech, acknowledging Zambia’s progress over the past 60 years and reinforcing the commitment to strengthening ties between Zambia and Ghana.

A speech from the then Chairman of the Association of Zambians in Ghana, Rev. Father John Mubanga, concluded the formal segment of the event. He commended the unity and resilience of Zambians living in Ghana and encouraged continued collaboration within the community.

The evening was marked by cultural performances, music, and networking among attendees, creating an atmosphere of joy and patriotism. The celebration served as a reminder of Zambia’s rich heritage and the enduring bond between Zambians and their Ghanaian hosts.
